The College of Education team commemorated the end of the academic year at our May 1 Celebration of Excellence event that started with university and college updates and concluded with engagement activities and competitive fun.
Dean Mary Earick, who made her debut at the annual event, provided updates on accomplishments of the past year and previewed the focus for next academic year for each of our five strategic priority pathways. Efforts for the upcoming year will position us to achieve the outlined goals for Year Three of our five-year plan outlined earlier this year.
Other updates provided by Dean Earick and associate deans Carolyn Pluim and Todd Gilson covered enrollment; program assessments; Educate and Engage; the fall launch of the Department of Learning Innovation, Leadership and Technology; collaborations with local and international partners; enhancing the sense of belonging for students as well as how to instill that feeling earlier in their Huskie tenure; the search for a new Morgridge Endowed Chair; and fundraising priorities for the physical spaces of Gabel, Graham and Anderson halls.

The college welcomed Joe Moreau as an information technology support associate.
Moreau is a proud husband and father who served four years in the U.S. Army as a combat medic. After completing his military service, he earned a bachelor’s degree in information technology and cybersecurity from Grand Canyon University. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and getting out on the golf course whenever he can.
Several awards were given while others were acknowledged for university-level honors or milestone service anniversaries.
