More than 275 high school students from 14 schools in the Valley Education for Employment System and Waubonsee Community College area came to the NIU campus Sept. 28 for the Future Teachers Conference.
Kimberly Radostits, 2022 Illinois Teacher of the Year, delivered the keynote address to the students who have expressed an interest in becoming teachers themselves.
Visiting students then attended several breakout sessions.
The event also included a panel discussion featuring current NIU students as well as alumni who are now teaching.
Schools represented were Batavia High School, East Aurora High School, Earlville High School, Fox Valley Career Center, Geneva High School, Hinckley-Big Rock High School, Indian Valley Vocational Center, Newark High School, Oswego High School, Plano High School, Somonauk High School, Waubonsee Community College, West Aurora High School and Yorkville High School.
