The Department of Curriculum and Instruction (CI) in the College of Education at Northern Illinois University seeks candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor position with an emphasis on elementary reading.
Candidates should possess experience and a research focus in one or more of the following areas: foundational reading/writing skills, teacher education, literacy leadership and coaching at the elementary level, or other research areas related to elementary reading and writing.
The position will involve:
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary reading and literacy.
- Developing and teaching in multiple formats and locations, i.e., on-campus, off-campus environments, face-to-face and online (synchronous and asynchronous).
- Maintaining a strong record of scholarly publications and presentations.
- Serving on and/or directing doctoral dissertations.
- Assisting in report writing and accreditation reporting.
- Serving as needed on program, departmental, college or university committees.
- Developing innovative undergraduate and graduate teacher education and professional development.
- Participating in and cultivate school-university partnerships.
