P-20 Network to talk educator shortage at Oct. 27 meeting in NIU-Naperville

Registration is open for the Fall 2022 P-20 Network Meeting – and College of Education faculty and staff who support teacher-licensure programs should consider attending as their schedules allow.

Scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at NIU’s Naperville center, the first in-person meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic will focus on the educator shortage.

Leaders from across Illinois will explore the root causes of the shortage while learning about solutions that local institutions are putting in place to develop, recruit, retain and diversify the educator workforce.

With a mix of short Ignite-style keynote speeches, a panel presentation and breakout sessions, participants will obtain information to take back to their own organizations as well as opportunities to discuss potential solutions and needed supports that will provide a focus for ongoing Illinois P-20 Network efforts.

Presenters include NIU College of Education Dean Laurie Elish-Piper and Eric Junco, the college’s director for Equity.

The cost to attend is $35 per individual to help defray meeting costs. Lunch will be provided. Registration closes Tuesday, Oct. 18.
