Congratulations to this NIU College of Education doctoral student!
Giselle Hernandez Navarro, a Ph.D. student in Counselor Education and Supervision and a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Counseling and Higher Education, received the Rising Star Award from the Illinois Association of Addiction Professionals (IAAP-The Illinois Chapter of the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors).
The mission of IAAP is to empower addiction-focused professionals to achieve excellence through education, advocacy, knowledge and standards of practice, ethics, professional development and research.
Navarro was honored Tuesday during IAAP’s hybrid 2021 Recovery Month Celebration, held in person at the Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center in Chicago and virtually.
