Mark your calendars! NIU’s Homecoming planned Oct. 7

homecoming-logo“Destination: Huskie Nation (111 Years Strong)” begins with pregame festivities from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, in The Yard outside Huskie Stadium.

Located on the west lawn of the stadium, The Yard is “the place to be” for free live music, fun activities and access to food vendors and the beer garden. A giant video screen broadcasts football action from around the country, and the Kids Zone provides inflatable games.

College of Education Dean Laurie Elish-Piper and other college leaders will greet alumni and their families who visit the Alumni Village tent. Guests can – as always – spin the Wheel of Prizes to take home some cool gifts.

Kickoff for the football game versus Kent State University is 2:30 p.m.

Homecoming at NIU originated with an alumni football game played Oct. 10, 1903, and NIU’s is the oldest major college alumni gathering in the state. The Huskies enjoy one of the longest celebrated homecoming traditions in the country.
