Sweet! Kudos Program lives on!

kudos-2Members of the College of Education’s Staff Council created the Kudos Program a few years ago to recognize excellent Civil Service and Supportive Professional Staff employees.

And, in the process, the candy and kind words delivered to winners helped to boost morale and energize everyone to maintain and improve a happy and productive workplace.

But with only a small number of teammates actively involved in the council, and a great number of deserving employees in the college, the task of coordinating the Kudos Program eventually proved overwhelming.

Fortunately, the goodwill initiative always enjoyed a fan in Laurie Elish-Piper.

“The dean thought it was such a great idea that she wanted to continue it,” Administrative Assistant Pat Wielert says.

life-saversNominations of candy-worthy colleagues welcome in four categories, all of which result in a corresponding sweet treat.

  • Life Savers (“You are a lifesaver!”)
  • Snickers bars (“You keep us smiling and snickering!”)
  • Kit Kat bars (“You deserve a break!”)
  • Extra gum (“Thanks for going the extra mile!”)

Weekly winners will receive notes that can include messages from their nominators (who can remain anonymous) or just the simple catchphrases.
