Strategic Action Planning Coming to the COE

Road SignsIn our recent All College meeting, Dean Elish-Piper announced that we will be partnering with the Center for Governmental Studies at NIU to facilitate a strategic action planning process for the college.  Dean Elish-Piper introduced the need for the process by explaining, “We are clearly at a crossroads where we need to chart our course to ensure that we are moving in the right direction.”  She added “I am committed to a model of strategic action planning that is inclusive, flexible, and action-oriented. When I was offered the position of Dean, I requested that the provost’s office provide funding for us to secure expert facilitation for strategic planning.”

The two individuals who will be facilitating our process are Diana Robinson, Director, and Mel Henriksen, Research Associate, Center for Governmental Studies.  They have expertise facilitating strategic action planning for a variety of higher education and non-profit groups including the City of DeKalb, DuPage County, the NIU Center for P-20 Engagement, and University Center of Lake County.  The process will kick off with a senate discussion on Thursday, September 1st
