Take some time to consider whether there are any skills that you would like to develop for work or just to motivate and inspire you. Then check out these options and work with your supervisor via the defined travel process below to make it happen.

On Campus Courses and On Line Training Opportunities

NIU Center for Training & Professional Development

A variety of courses are offered to all faculty and staff (customer service, personal development, professional development).

Faculty Development and Instructional Design Center

A wide variety of programs are offered on topics related to teaching, research, diversity, & instructional use of technology.

IT & Technical Training

Instructor led courses and webinars available to all faculty and staff.  Access to the online video library where you can learn new skills, explore hobbies and interest areas while learning from expert teachers.


Off Campus Conferences and Courses

Travel Approval Process

The ability to offer some off campus conferences and/or courses is being made possible through annual fund donors that contribute to the COE as well as the Christine Sorenson Endowment for Academic Excellence.  To participate, please complete the Authorization to Travel Form and review with your supervisor and/or department chair.
