According to organizers, participation was strong throughout the college in last week’s Spirit Friday competition, but KNPE walked away with the traveling spirit gnome trophy.
“I mean, seriously, they brought in two babies decked out in NIU red,” said David Snow, vice president and treasurer of the CoE Staff Council, which sponsors the contest. “That takes spirit to whole new level.”
He noted that this is the second KNPE victory in three months of competition, adding “other departments will need to really step up their game if they are to have any hope of lessening KNPE’s iron grip on the gnome.”
Snow reminds the college that while faculty and staff are encouraged to wear the colors every Friday, judging will take place only on the second Friday of the month.
